A recent story in the Portland Business Journal covers the new stimuluspackage by the US federal government. The $150 billion package, announced Thursday, would include $50 billion in temporary taxbreaks for businesses as well as rebates for 116 millionindividuals who file tax returns, including people who don't makeenough money to pay income taxes. I am interested to know if anyonethinks this will make a difference and will it really help? You've got that great idea. You no longer will be working for"the man" (I've always wondered who that is.) You're ready to blazeyour own path. You're an entrepreneur....Face it, you need help. You need advice, support and maybe funding. You need a network.

Running around to every event in town sound appealing? Maybenot, and it might not be the best way to build the foundation foryour venture's success.

Recently I read an article written by Kent Lewis, CEO of AnvilMedia, about his referral-based networking strategy. I feelit provides entrepreneurs developing their businesses good insightsand a doable approach for anyone (even if you're a shy person) tobuild a network that can provide amazing support.

For entrepreneurs, meeting the right group of people who canserve as advisers and can lend their connections is ofteninvaluable to the development of their businesses. If you followKent's suggestions you may not only gain great business connectionsthat can help your venture grow, you'll also get an opportunity tohelp others and make some serious investment in the karma bank andthat is always a worthwhile thing.

Check out some upcoming networking opportunities at OENevents and other communityevents of interest.
