Myth 1 - You can't grow a company here as fast as in the valley. Busted! Mentor graphics is the fastest growing software company.

Myth 2 - You can’t raise Venture Capital in OR. Busted! Dave Moffenbeier has raised a quarter of billion in angel funding

Myth 3 - Nobody has built a major company here in decades. Busted! Tripwire has trumped it.

Myth 4 - Entrepreneurs are easy, it’s investors that are tough - It's a two way street, manage your relationships wisely.

Myth 5 - Nobody has gotten any liquidity here in decades - Keith Oelrich of Insight Schools found liquidity in 15 months.

Myth 6 - Limited Partners have abandoned Venture Capital - Ron Schmitz OR CIO, have dedicated targets for Venture investment

PortlandTen shares tips on Building a Fundable Startup

Posted by Sarena Regazzoni Oct 16, 2009

Building a start up company is no easy feat.  Check out this presentation done by Portland Ten of the various styles of companies and which type is fundable.

Building A Stable, Fundable StartupEver wondered how private equity investors (angels, venture capitalists) evaluate tech startups– and what founders can do about it?

The following presentation outlines 3 types of "unfundable" startup styles, and the 1 "fundable" startup style that attracts investors and is most likely to be stable & grow over time.

There’s a lot that founders can do to affect the current status, opportunities, and future of their projects– if they know what to look for, and are willing to objectively and frequently make changes and tough choices.

Helping founders see clearly and accurately understand where they’re at, is absolutely one of the most rewarding aspects of working with entrepreneurs through the Portland Ten’s "10 at $1MM by 2010" goal.
